Background & Research
Navigation within the feature is unclear and involves frequent back-and-forth between the app and other tools, leading to high drop-off rates and reduced engagement with the app.
This is a significant issue, as it directly impacts the business's work output.
“It’s difficult to navigate to the final output of the work in the system. It requires too many steps, feels disorganized, and reduces efficiency.”
Problem Statement
How can we simplify the process for users to achieve their desired outcomes with a single click while maintaining consistency within the app?
Key Principles when Designing
Reliability: Users need to trust that this feature will perform as expected.
Empathy: Understanding the challenges users faced was crucial to addressing their negative experiences.
Consistency: The workflow needed to be uniform across all the different elements involved in the system.
User Needs
Auditors need easy access to key features and seamless navigation between different views in the system. Once in the relevant section, they should have a clear overview of important details and be able to manage necessary tasks efficiently.
There should be flexibility in how certain information, such as notes, entries, and attachments, is displayed and interacted with. Additionally, some features should be available on-demand rather than always visible, ensuring a more streamlined experience.
The system should also provide functionality that allows auditors to perform essential tasks within the platform, eliminating the need for external tools or additional steps.

Impact & Lessons Learnt
This project presented unique challenges, as it required adapting traditional UI/UX principles to design a feature tailored to a specific user group.
Task completion times were significantly reduced.
If I had the chance to do it again, I would have gained more firsthand insight into how users interact with the previous design by shadowing.
The reliance on external tools decreased notably, which led to faster overall completion.
